WAC users have access to a wide range of professionally equipped studios. There are three large adaptable studios used for painting and drawing, as well as ceramics, printmaking, jewellery & sculpture studios, with space also for children’s art. The WAC is supported by a group of over 30 independent teaching artists offering first-rate tuition across 60 classes each week. Urban Sketching is a course for people who want to draw the world around them. No prior drawing experience is required to join this urban art school sketching course. Go on a journey with our professional artist to learn how to draw realistic street scenes and beautiful buildings.

Dogs are a regular subject in Tannya Harricks' work and she was commissioned by Walker Books to paint the illustrations for picture books Dingo and Kookaburra . In this workshop explore your favourite animal subject in a loose and expressive way. Bring your own dog/animal/pet reference and sketches to paint from and have fun exploring different approaches and techniques to help loosen up and develop your individual approach to painting. Classes are available from beginner to advanced levels where you can learn how to paint in a variety of mediums and with practical exercises to develop observational skills and paint handling techniques.
VThis experimental painting course is totally hands-on. I will guide you through a series of short drawing/painting experimental exercises, and we’ll finish with a longer painting task combining all techniques. The point is not to come out of the workshop with one masterpiece, but rather explore and liberate the gesture to tackle painting in a different way.
